Your money is safe with Taper
Taper is not a bank - but works exclusively with fully regulated, European payment and FX partners. Client funds are held in segregated accounts at Tier 1 credit institutions. Transparency is not a marketing term. It is our standard.
Taper is not a bank - and that is an advantage
As a non-bank fintech boutique, Taper combines the flexibility and personal service of an independent specialist with the safety and regulation of established European financial institutions. We never handle client funds ourselves - that is done by our regulated partners, under strict supervision.
All transactions run via fully authorised payment institutions with European supervision.
Client funds are strictly separated from operational funds - legally required under PSD2 through the regulated partners we work with.
No hidden FX margins. You always know upfront what you pay.
Regulated partner structure
Taper works with fully authorised European financial institutions for international payments, IBAN accounts and FX transactions alike. All partners are supervised by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) and/or the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).
Payment services are executed by PSD2-certified payment institutions under supervision of the National Bank of Belgium.
FX services are offered via institutions authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the National Bank of Belgium (NBB).
Client funds are always held in ring-fenced accounts at Tier 1 European credit institutions - legally required, never commingled.
How your money is protected
The separation of client funds is a legal requirement - not a marketing promise. Here is how it works.
You transfer funds to your Taper IBAN account. This account is in your company name at our regulated payment partner.
Your funds are held in segregated, ring-fenced accountsat Tier 1 European credit institutions through our partners. They are never commingled with Taper's own operational accounts. This is a legal requirement under PSD2 through the regulated partners we work with.
Our regulated partners periodically report to the National Bank of Belgium on fund protection. As payment institutions, they are legally required to be able to return client funds at all times.
Payments are only executed on your explicit instruction. Taper and its partners never act autonomously with your funds.
KYC & compliance at Taper
A thorough client acceptance process protects not only our partners - it also protects you. Taper conducts a professional KYC process for every new relationship.
Identification of all ultimate beneficial owners (UBOs) in line with European anti-money laundering regulations.
Verification of company registration, ownership structure and business activities.
After onboarding, Taper continues to monitor transaction patterns in accordance with legal requirements.
